Physiotherapy is an approach that is needed in all types of dystrophy to slow down disease progression, reduce pain and maintain quality of life. Each child and adult can be affected differently by this disease and may have different needs. Therefore, in Arunalaya healthcare we develops a treatment plan according to the needs. Manual muscle testing helps evaluate muscle strength and range of motion teste can measure the range of motion of joint.
Physiotherapy treatment includes manual therapy, exercises, education and advice. In Arunalaya healthcare we treats with advance techniques like Dry needling, kinesiology taping, IASTM.
- Manual therapy:-
- It helps in reducing pain and stiffness, improves joint mobility, breaking adhesions(taut bands ,knots or trigger points, scar tissues),reduces inflammation and promotes healing of injured muscles.
- IASTM:-
- Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a manual therapy technique which uses metallic tools with different shapes to mobilize and release tension in the soft tissues, such as muscles, ligaments and tendons. This therapy helps in improving blood circulation by releasing the muscle and reducing pain, Stiffness and spasm simultaneously.
- Dry needling:-
- Dry Needling is a technique in which we put tiny needle to target specific trigger points. It helps to reduce pain, swelling and stiffness, to improve blood flow, to improve movement of joints etc.
- Kinesiology taping:-
- Kinesiology Taping (Kinesio=Movement) is a stretchy tape which is used to support the muscle in order to facilitate (or initiate) the action of that muscle, If the muscle is overactive this taping technique helps in inhibiting the action of that muscle.
- It helps to reduce Oedema /swelling by improving lymphatic drainage. It helps to correct the deformity (inappropriate alignment of the bones and other structures).
- Breathing exercises:-
- Breathing exercises and techniques are recommended to maintain a person’s respiratory function. Keep the respiratory muscles strong and the chest clear.
- Specific exercises are performed to help strengthen the muscles of the throat, jaw and tongue so that the patient can perform daily tasks, such as eating, swallowing, etc.
- Range of motion exercises:-
- Range of motion exercises are performed to increase range of motion and muscle strength, improve daily function, and reduce the risk of contractures. These exercises are simple and can be performed regularly at home.
- Strengthening exercises:-
- Strengthening exercises using light weight and high repetitions strength are performed initially to avoid muscle injury. Light weight changes in heavy according to the patients.
