What is Cervical Radiculopathy ?

Cervical radiculopathy is a condition that occurs when a nerve root in the neck is compressed or irritated, causing pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in the neck, shoulder, arm, or hand. The cause is a herniated disc or degenerative changes in the spine, which can compress nerve roots.

CAUSES

Symptoms of cervical radiculopathy depend on the nerve root affected. Some common symptoms are:

pain that radiates from the neck to the shoulder, arm, and hand
Numbness or tingling in the neck, shoulders, arms and hands
Weakness in arms and hands
difficulty with fine motor skills or coordination
Loss of reflexes in the affected limb.

TREATMENT

Treatment of cervical radiculopathy includes rest, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory drugs, and corticosteroid injections. In some cases, surgery may be needed to relieve pressure on the affected nerve roots.

If you have symptoms of cervical radiculopathy, it's important to see a doctor because early treatment can lead to better outcomes and prevent further complications.
